Isaac sat in the pilot chair and the autopilot took himself and the crew to the next location, Isaac relaxed back and yawned. the rest of the crew had got to sleep hours ago but Isaac was never a big sleep, I can sleep enough when I'm dead he thought to himself, he looked at the panel of the console and shot up in his chair. The proximity detector had been disabled, Isaac knew it was on an hour ago and he shot up from his chair, his hand rested on his gun, he planned to meet these guests. Isaac turned to see two of his former crew members standing at the door of the bridge. "Ah Grey and the new guy, haven't seen you since you threw me out of my ship" Isaac said as he stood up fully and faced the two intruders, "Thantos" Grey nodded and the new guy gripped his SMG tighter, Grey was holding his rifle in front of him but not pointing at anyone, "Where's the rest of the crew?" Isaac asked viciously. "Dead, your friendly father blew up the ship and the crew along with it when he found out that we threw you off, he really hates you...Thantos " Grey spoke as if he was talking to a most hated enemy, Isaac grinned, "Thats what traitors should get, so why are you here then?", it was now Grey's turn to grin, "we want this ship, now".

Grey started to aim his gun, there was a gunshot and Grey hit the ground, Isaac unleveled his gun and walked towards the new guy, "Head shot" Isaac said without remorse, new guy leveled his gun, "stop or I'll shoot" he said with his voice shaking , Isaac kept walking towards the new guy and new guy pulled the trigger......but nothing happened. Isaac laughed "All your gonna kill is yourself while you have the safety on" Isaac said mockingly, Isaac punch the new guy in the face and he flew down the the stair leading up to the bridge,the new guy quickly got up and started to run. "where the hell to you think your going!?!?!" Isaac yelled as he pulled out his knife and flung it into the back of the new guys knee which made him cripple and scream, Isaac then closed the distance and shot him in the right shoulder which made him fall, face first onto the ground, he let out a high pitched scream of pain. Isaac kicked him over and then placed his stomped his foot onto the new guy's chest and left it there, "don't be such a girl, its only a knife and one bullet. So kid, how old are you? like 17 or 18?" Isaac laughed as the new guy squirmed under his foot and Isaac looked into the eyes of the new guy, they were full of fear, "It doesn't matter anyhow, as your going to die" Isaac said bluntly as he aimed his gun and the new guy's head.

Given that she was usually cooped up in the engine room, and rarely had to fight her way out of any trouble, Charlie had never bothered to learn to use a gun. Sure, she could (that was learned the hard way and still ended with a bullet in her ass), but she didn't trust her skill - or lack thereof - enough to actually own a gun.

Then she came aboard the Nightfall and decided that, yes, this may be the time to learn.

Which was part of the reason why she was tugging open the hatch to her room and climbing up, bleary eyed and armed with only a six shooter tucked into the waist of her shorts and a vague recollection of what Katy and Nol had taught her. The rest of the reason was that she's an idiot. Only idiots went to investigate gunshots on a ship in space. She'd either get shot or have her guts sucked out of a hull breach.

Swinging a foot out to land with a heavy booted thud, she shifted her weight and just hung there; one foot on the ladder, one on the deck, with a good chance that she'd yawn and fall right through the gap inbetween. The others were emerging. How she'd managed to get out of bed and out of her quarters before them she had no idea - maybe less alcohol and fairly healthy eating really was good for you. A metre or so away lay a young man who looked shit scared as Isaac pointed a gun at his head.

Isaac. She should have known.

"Wèi! Don't go shooting anything else, 'specially his head. I don't want my baby damaged, and staining her is just bad manners," she muttered, rubbing a hand over her eyes. Seeing Isaac wasn't moving, she sighed. And then noticed blood around the man's shoulder. Gorram stupid pilot-types.

She decided that Isaac was insane, the man was a mystery she'd rather not solve, and they probably needed to call the doc before the dude bled out and got blood on everything. The doc. Huh. Well, a little late night pretty would cheer her right up. She decided to go and get the doc personally, hoping that he was half naked and that the sight would help her forget the fact she'd be stuck doing blood cleanup in the morning.

Katylinn had only just fallen asleep. It never came easily anymore, though when she was in the air she never used the aid of whiskey. The sound of a gunshot sounded in her dreams, but it was not out of place among the scenes of war. A scream of paing followed by what seemed to be a thud right outside her quarters. Fighting off her need for sleep, Linn slipped out of her bunk, her hand grabbing her falcata which was beside her pillow. She threw her tank top on and slid the falcata from its sheath as she cautiously opened the door. Isaac stood with his gun pointed at the head of a terrified and bleeding kid on the floor in front of her quarters. "Stand down Isaac. He's not going anywhere. We need him alive if we're to find out why he's here." she said in a voice thick from sleep as she saw Charlie's retreating form. "Get the doc", she shouted croakily at the mechanic as she knelt down and searched the kid for any weapons. Removing the two knives and one gun from the kid she tore the bottom off her tank top and held it to the shoulder wound.

She looked around, surprised that Nol and the Shepard weren't here already. "What happened, Mr. Moss?" she asked as she waited for Charlie to bring the doc.

Jaykob sat on his bunk, his bare back against the cool metal wall as he read a book on advanced anatomy. It seemed he needed some revision on the more basic forms of medicine to be useful. His work in a Core Planet Hospital was not much use for gunshot wounds, knife wounds and bludgeoning. A soft concerto played on a small record player across from him,. He was glad to have been assigned a double room. His many books took up more space than he would have liked, and there was no way he could have fit them all in a single room. He was also further away from the crew. He liked his little secluded corner of the ship, it made it far easier to bring a girl back when they were planetside. He had never been one to feel very cold, and the constant moderate temperature of the ship was a little warm for his liking. He was always quick to strip off his shirt in the privacy of his own quarters and his tight fitting denim jeans helped to display the outline of his muscular body.

Though he was a doctor, he had always taken pride in his body amd his appearance, and the athleticism certainly appealed to the girls. He sighed and ran a hand through his mess of dark brown hair. Life on this ship was certainly interesting and just the challenge he needed for him. He set the anatomy book down and lay down on the bunk, one hand behind his head as he relaxed and looked at the bare ceiling, his breath matching the soft rhythm of the music.

Isaac's blood ran cold, he was hoping to have finished this before anyone had arrived, "Moss?, why are they calling you that?" the new guy said. "You're Thantos...." he creaked out, Isaac looked at Linn and waited for her reaction. "YOU SCUM!!!" Isaac yelled at the new guy. "You.... you all stole my ship and took everything I worked for, do you know how long I worked?!? How long it took me to gain that much respect in my line of work!? And you and your little friends took it all and now that you lost it, you're coming for what I have now", Isaac smiled and stomped down on the shoulder wound, Isaac's face was one of pure hate.

"Give the devil my best, because all you're getting from me is a bullet", Isaac said as he aimed his gun, but then stopped. "Whats that?" Isaac asked grabbing a flashing tracer device from the new guy's pocket. "Alliance?, you're Alliance?" Isaac asked as he felt a chill up his spine. "He's coming" the new guy said laughing, Isaac stepped off the new guy, crushed the Tracer and walked towards the dinning area. "The true devil is coming, My father..... Kain Moss, General Kain Moss" Isaac walked out of the room and sat in the dinning area.

It occured to Charlie, as she headed down to passenger quarters, that there were only two ways the man Isaac shot could have gotten aboard. One was stowing away, and one was entering while in space. The former was unsurprising - she'd seen her fair share of stowaways in the past - but the latter would be interesting. And possibly quite dangerous for a number of reasons. It was worrying, to say the least.

Once she'd tugged open the Doctor's door, without so much as a knock, the worry suddenly found itself displaced by a whole load of other thoughts, none of which involved death and more than one of which involved very dirty thoughts indeed.

Realising she'd been standing silent and staring, Charlie cleared her throat to tell him about the guy currently bleeding out on the level above. The words didn't quite match the sentiment. "You are really hot for an uppity, manwhorish doc from the core planets."

Jaykob did not hear the sound of his door open through the music playing. Charlie's voice broke through his daydreaming and he stood and faced her. "And you're quite beautiful for an obnoxious mechanic", he replied with a roguish grin. "Please come in", he said as he motioned to his book-cluttered quarters. He stepped closer to her to close the door, breathing deep as he did so, a smile on his face. He was pleased that she had come, but she would have a reason. At the moment it appeared she had forgotten it and he was certainly in no hurry to remind her. If it were serious enough, he would not have distracted her. He stretched his stiff limbs and turned to face Charlie, his brown eyes smouldering in the dull light.

There was a guy who may die upstairs. Chances are Isaac would shoot him first. There was totally no rush. Of course, there was also the little problem of Charlie absolutely hating the doctor, but his looks apparently outweighed that.

"Tiān xiǎode what I'm thinking," she muttered to herself, reaching out to pull him closer. A small part of her - the sensible part, most likely - wished for a distraction. And also thought this felt incredibly cliched.

Jaykob saw Charlie hesitate and knew, like an unbroken horse; she'd spook if he made the first move. Instead he kept still, his athletic body teasing her as she debated. He knew the instant she made her decision, and it was not her grabbing him either. He felt her hands on his arm and he stepped forward, letting her pull him close. He brought his right hand up and gently pushed the hair from her face and behind her ear. "Tiān xiǎode indeed" he said huskily as he leaned in closer to her. "this is what I call the perfect start to the evening. The night is young, there's a beautiful girl, and I'm half naked" he thought to himself.

Nol had been awoken from a deep sleep by the commotion happening on the bridge. He quickly put on his pants an his guns and stumbled out of his bed and up the ladder. He was still half asleep when he got to the bridge which explained why he tripped over the dead guy laying on the floor with a bullet hole in his head. "Ni de ma de. Tian Xia suo you de ren dou gai si" Nol said as he got up from falling face first to the ground. He was awake now and looked at them all yelling at each other. "Shut up please, Bi Zuei!" he said then looked over to Linn "What is going on, on our ship?" he said to her.

Katylinn looked up when she heard Nol's familiar footfalls. "Couple of stow aways. Mr. Moss seems to be aquainted with them. Charlie's getting the doc. Maybe you could give us assistance to get him to the infirmary; we might be able to get something out of him before the doc arrives" she said; giving Isaac a meaningful look as she finished. You'd also better get everyone prepared, apparently General Kain Moss is going to be stopping by for a chat" she said to Nol as Issac seemed to have wandered into the dining area. Katylinn lifted the wounded guy by the shoulders, letting the Cap'n get the legs as they carried the dead weight to the infirmary. They set him down on one fo the beds and Linn turned to Nol. "Do you want the honours, or shall I?" she asked as she motioned to their captive.

Isaac carefully started to take apart the tracer and examine the parts, in it he found a flashing blue diode, "Damnit!" Isaac cursed as he quickly whipped out his note pad, calculating the tracers max range and how long it would take to get to Nightfall from there.
Isaac hit himself on the head, why oh why did I make these things, Isaac headed to the Infirmary in order to talk with Nol.

"Nol" Isaac said as he walked into the room, "I know, you more than likely don't want to talk to me know my former reputation but right now this is more important" Isaac spoke very seriously and held up the blue diode, " I made this when I was in the Alliance, its not just a tracing device... its a device that can send out a signal to a missile pod setup outside of the standard sensor range, if this little thing moves outside of the coordinates that it was activated at, BOOM...... and even if we throw it away, the missile will still hit the ship because its been painted by the device, the device's paint will fade in about 3 days, the thing is that my father and his ship will arrive in 2 hours max more than likely less than that" Isaac stopped talk and looked at Nol. "You may not wish to help me, but my father will take me and kill everyone else and blow this ship apart" Isaac looked worried and looked at Nol, “We should get started on a solution”.

Katylinn looked up as she heard someone enter and was slightly surprised to see that it was Isaac and not Charlie with the doc. Doctors, never rely on them she thought to herself as she put pressure on the gunshot wound. It was not that she wanted the man to live, just that she did not want him to die before they extracted what information they could out of him. "And you don't think that any of this was pertinent information when you joined oour crew?" she asked sharply as she pressed more firmly on the man's shoulder, causing him to scream in agony.

She sighed. "So we have General Moss due here within two hours and there is no escape as yet. Sounds familiar. Now what exactly are our options. How does that device paint a ship? I mean... Does it paint the entire ship, or just what it was fixed to? I guess what I am saying is if we cut away where the tracer was connected, would we avoid the sensor?" she asked, instantly trying to find a solution.

The Nightfall had small bunks. That was at least half of the reason why Charlie had the non slip tread of the deck imprinted along her back. She stretched, groaned, and sat up to tug on her shirt. Not too long had passed, thankfully. There was a chance that guy was still alive, but knowing the others, they'd probably found an entirely new problem.

Avoiding Jaykob's eyes, she gestured to his clothes as she stood. "Well this was a bucket o' fun. Now you should go fix the guy bleeding to death."

Jaykob stretched his athletic body, feeling the fingernail scratches and imprint of the floor on his tanned back. It had been an unexpected pleasure so soon in coming to the ship and he was pleased that his charms were still as good as ever. He watched as Charlie stretched, taking in her naked body; a small pout appeared on his face as she dressed. He still didn't understand what brought her to his quarters, but whatever it was he hoped that it would happen again; it had been a very nice way to spend the time.

He froze as the words Charlie spoke registered. "Yeah it has been a bit of - what do you mean bleeding? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Gorram hell, Charlie!" he said as he grabbed his trousers and pulled them roughly on. He kissed her lighly on the cheek as he rushed out the door, still doing up his belt and made his way to the infirmary topless. In his rush to get to his possibly now dead patient, he forgot about the scratch marks on his back as he pushed open the doors to his crowded infirmary. "Sorry I took so long to get here, was caught up in something. What have I got?" he asked as he went straight over to the gurney with the injured man. He watched as the First Mate stepped back and allowed him to look at the wounds.

Jaykob shook his head an injected the wounded man with a painkiller. He then took out a pair of tweezers and pulled the bullet out before sealing the wound with the dermal mendar. "Someone want to tell me how this man came to be in my infirmary?" he asked with a hint of frustration in his voice.

"Yeah it has been a bit of - what do you mean bleeding? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Gorram hell, Charlie!"

Charlie didn't bother to answer. She finished getting dressed, raked her hair back into something nearing a neat ponytail, and headed for the infirmary. Everyone was gathered around the intruder, which probably meant he was still alive. She found it hard to give a damn, even post-mild shock.

The sofa opposite the infirmary looked mighty comfortable given it was the middle of the night; she lay down gladly. A book sat on the coffee table - this is the best read thieve's ship in the 'verse, she thought - and she picked it up to thumb through.

Isaac pulled an annoyed face, "oh yes, Hello my name is Isaac Moss, I'm the most wanted criminal in the verse, how do you do?..... I'm quite sure I would not have been able to join your crew" Isaac said in a sarcastic tone and walked over to the man and looked down at him.

Isaac looked at her seriously, "the fact is that as soon as the device is active, it 'paints' the ship its on so it could be half the ship, removing it is an option however there is another one and it would be quicker...... see the missile pod is programmed to be able to scan multiple targets in the area and hit the better of the ships in it, so I could make a cry baby, have it send out what a reaver ship would send out, strap the device to it and more than likely the missile would hit that and to avoid detection it only gets one shot" Isaac smiled and whipped out his notebook, scribbling in it. "I'll need a few things to fake the ship, lucky I have most of them however we need a spare compression coil which is an engine part, I'm sure Charlie would know what it is, right Charlie?" Isaac had just finished talking and spotted that the Doc had entered with no shirt on,

"Someone want to tell me how this man came to be in my infirmary?"

Isaac turned to him,"Hey Jaykob, that would be my bad, see they tried to kill me and I shot them" Isaac said and spotted the scratch marks, he walked over to Jaykob and whispered in his ear while smirking "I see the kitty likes to claw".

Jaykob turned to Isaac as he answered his question. "Ahh well in that case it is completely understandable. Now what do you plan on doing with him? He will be out for a while yet" he said as he went about tidying up his infirmary. "And why has my infirmary become a meeting place, shoo" he said as he pushed the three other occupants of the infirmary out of the room, following them out behind them. He gave Issac a grin and a flick of the eyebrows, "A gentleman never tells", he said with a grin.

Katylinn slapped Isaac on the back of the head. "In case you haven't yet noticed, we seem to be a go-to ship for people the Alliance are hunting. Maybe with advanced knowledge we could have taken steps against this." she replied in an equally frustrated tone. "As good as that sounds, I'd like to maybe have some more ideas on the table first. Charlie, have you anything you think we could do about this. Doctor, make sure he is not going to cause us more trouble until we get this sorted. Then we'll find some more appropriate accommodations where I can find out just what he's doing here." she said once she had been ushered out of the infirmary. She did her best not to look at Jaykob and Charlie; instead focussing on a middle point in the room between everyone.

"No, sorry, I've never heard of it. I spend my days keeping this ship flying on prayers and rainbows." The sarcasm was overwhelming. Tossing the book back at the table, Charlie turned her head to look over at them, not bothering to even sit up. Jaykob and Isaac were whispering to each other with smug little grins - she gave Jaykob a look of warning that would probably have killed a small animal. "I could give you a compression coil but there's a little teeny, tiny problem - we won't be able to run or even breath without. If you want to fool the Alliance that's all well and good, but it's useless if we're sitting dead ducks."

She sighed and sat up with a groan. Gorram, the deck was not made for backs at all. She had a kink the size of Miranda in her spine. With a gesture towards the ship in general, she stood. I'm guessing they've painted us by engine output since they're not in visual range and a Firefly has a unique footprint. I could play around with it. Muddying it up would make us look like Reavers - I'm imagining this is a bad idea - but I can probably clean it up enough to pass as an Alliance transport."

Katylinn chuckled behind her hand at Charlie's sarcasm, but still kept her eyes on some central point in the room, though she caught the glare she sent to Jaykob. She had been on the receiving end of one of those glares and it had not been pleasant. She listened as Charlie explained the nature of the painting of the ship. "Okay Charlie, tell us what we need to do. I think we'd prefer that we disguise our signature rather than the whole lack of breathing idea. We're at your disposal time is short", she said decisively. She looked around the room, and met their eyes, "Well, don't just stand around here staring; get to it" she sneered and then turned on her heel and left to make coffee; the fingernail marks on Jaykob's back engaved on her eyes.

"Okay Charlie, tell us what we need to do. I think we'd prefer that we disguise our signature rather than the whole lack of breathing idea. We're at your dispoasal time is short",

A whole lotta nothing came to mind. Realising that it might be a morale thing as much as a being helpful thing, Charlie tried to think something up. "You could...shut down all nonessential systems?"

"Well, don't just stand around here staring; get to it"

She didn't bother waiting for any more questions, instead getting up and heading up the stairs in silence. Get it done, get to bed, and if Isaac wanted to pull the coil anyway, at least she'd die in her sleep. The engine room was filled with it's usual comforting dull drone but Charlie could almost hear a tone of accusation in it, asking why she'd been possessed to sleep with Jaykob. "Key word there: possessed," she muttered before realising she was defending herself to...herself. This was distressing.

But, admittedly, it'd been damned good.

Linn prepared herself a coffee and got another for Charlie. It seemed the girl had work to do and after her exertions she may be in need of the rejuvination properties of the aromatic liquid. She tapped out the spent grinds and took up the two mugs of liquid and walked down to the engine room, her army boots clanking noisily on the metal floor.

Katylinn knocked lightly on the side of the entrance into the Engine Room, having manouvred the coffees into her left hand so she hand a free hand to do so. "I bring you a coffee, and an extra set of hands?" she said uncertainly as she hovered at the doorway. She could see the frustrated look on Charlie's face and did not wish to antagonise her further.

It took all her self-restraint to not shout 'leave me alone' when she heard footsteps heading towards the engine room. Gods almight, wasn't this night hard enough without people hovering about? She just wanted sleep, dammit.

"I bring you a coffee, and an extra set of hands?"

She glanced up and forced a small smile in thanks. Coffee was definitely needed. She wiped some grease from her hands onto a rag and took the cup, gesturing with a nod of her head towards a small pile of parts. "I dug up some stuff Issac may be able to use instead of a compression coil. As for modifying the engine, in the spirit of full disclosure, there's a small chance it could explode and we may die."

Linn saw the forced smile and said nothing, it was going to take all her self control to try not to anger Charlie's normal short fuse, let alone a fatigue induced even shorter fuse. She chuckled as she looked over to the pile of junk, imaging the look on Isaac's face at having to handle the greasy parts. "Can't you just see him in his purple suit trying to jury-rig a compression coil?" Linn asked with a ghost of a smile on her lips.

She shrugged her shoudlers, "as for the explosion, well isn't that a definate without a compression coil? And well, since the end of the war I've always thought myself on borrowed time anyways", Linn said neutrally. She was not foolish enough to try and talk Charlie out of her plan, it was more sound than Isaac's and well... She trusted the mechanic far more than she did the strange Isaac.
